EYFS Curriculum

Learning Through Play & Wonder

We incorporate the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to support and develop children's play and learning. The EYFS covers birth to five years.

The Four Principles

Built on the EYFS Framework

We also recognise the EYFS Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning — playing and exploring, active learning, and creating and thinking critically — which underpin all areas of learning.

A Unique Child

Every child is unique and constantly learning, capable and full of potential.

Positive Relationships

Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships.

Enabling Environments

Children learn and develop well in enabling, supportive environments.

Learning & Developing

Learning and development occurs in different ways and at different rates.

Inclusion & SEND

Little Lily Preschool provides access and opportunities for all children. We comply with the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and the Equality Act 2010, and follow the Graduated Approach (assess, plan, do, review) to ensure provision is tailored and progress is tracked for every child.

Partnership with Parents

Partnership with parents is a vital part of the EYFS, and one we strongly advocate. We encourage families to contribute to their child's learning journey by sharing observations from home, supporting consistency between home and nursery, and celebrating every step of progress together.
