A Unique Child
Every child is unique and constantly learning, capable and full of potential.
We incorporate the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to support and develop children's play and learning. The EYFS covers birth to five years.
We also recognise the EYFS Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning — playing and exploring, active learning, and creating and thinking critically — which underpin all areas of learning.
Every child is unique and constantly learning, capable and full of potential.
Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships.
Children learn and develop well in enabling, supportive environments.
Learning and development occurs in different ways and at different rates.
The curriculum covers seven areas of development, with most activities lending themselves to cross-curricular learning.

Building rich vocabulary, listening, attention and the confidence to express ideas.

Developing gross and fine motor skills, coordination, health and self-care.

Nurturing self-regulation, relationships, confidence and a sense of belonging.

Early reading, mark-making and a lifelong love of stories and books.

Numbers, shapes, patterns and spatial reasoning through playful exploration.

Exploring people, communities, nature and the world around them.

Imagination, creativity, music, movement and self-expression.

Little Lily Preschool provides access and opportunities for all children. We comply with the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and the Equality Act 2010, and follow the Graduated Approach (assess, plan, do, review) to ensure provision is tailored and progress is tracked for every child.
Partnership with parents is a vital part of the EYFS, and one we strongly advocate. We encourage families to contribute to their child's learning journey by sharing observations from home, supporting consistency between home and nursery, and celebrating every step of progress together.
